The Khandelwal Samaj of Chomu celebrated the 430th birth anniversary of ‘Kavi Shiromani’ Sant Sundardas Ji Maharaj with great devotion and enthusiasm on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami on March 27. The grand event was आयोजित at the Khandelwal Dharamshala located near the Garh Ganesh Temple within the Chomu Municipal Council area.
The program commenced with the garlanding of Sant Sundardas Ji Maharaj’s portrait, followed by floral tributes and ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The rituals were performed by Professor Ramesh Kumar Rawat (National Spokesperson and Media In-charge of Akhil Bharatvarshiya Khandelwal Vaishya Mahasabha), along with key members of the community including Mukesh Khuteta (President), Govind Jhalani (Vice President), Virendra Khandelwal (Secretary), Ramesh Dagayach (Joint Secretary), Naveen Kasliwal (Treasurer), and several patrons and former presidents.
On this occasion, all community members collectively recited prayers, Stotra (hymns), and Chalisa dedicated to Sant Sundardas Ji, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Attendees were also enlightened about the life and teachings of the revered saint.
A special highlight of the event was the distribution of Panchmukhi Rudraksha Kanthis, inscribed with the sacred ‘Omkar’ symbol and sourced from Sikkim. These were distributed by Professor Ramesh Kumar Rawat, who also explained their spiritual significance.
Addressing the gathering, he stated that Sant Sundardas Ji Maharaj—regarded as the pride and glory of the Khandelwal community and a revered national saint—was born on Chaitra Shukla Navami (Ram Navami) in Samvat 1653 in Dausa district of Rajasthan, as a divine blessing of Dadu Dayal Ji.
During his lifetime, the saint authored 48 literary works in 11 languages, and his writings were later compiled into a Granthavali in 1936, with the preface written by Rabindranath Tagore. Through his works, Sant Sundardas Ji conveyed profound messages on the art of living to the common people.
The event also included the felicitation of newly elected executive members and patrons of the Khandelwal community with garlands and ceremonial scarves bearing the name of Lord Rama.
Several dignitaries from the Akhil Bharatvarshiya Khandelwal Vaishya Mahasabha extended heartfelt congratulations to the Chomu community for organizing the successful event, including Ramesh Chandra Gupta (Tunga Wale), Sanjeev Kumar Katta, Chandra Prakash Khandelwal, Gopal Khandelwal (Mathura), Girdharilal Khandelwal (Deeg), Ramkishore Khuteta, Rakesh Rawat (Delhi), Naresh Khandelwal (Mandi Gobindgarh), Ram Niranjan Khuteta, Madhu Khandelwal, and Sharad Pharsoiya.
The celebration of Sant Sundardas Ji Maharaj’s 430th birth anniversary not only reflected deep religious devotion but also promoted unity, cultural values, and spiritual awareness within the community.
