उत्तर प्रदेश में मतदाता सूची के विशेष गहन पुनरीक्षण (SIR) अभियान के पूरा होने के बाद मतदाताओं की संख्या में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है। निर्वाचन आयोग के अनुसार, SIR प्रक्रिया के उपरांत प्रदेश में कुल मतदाता संख्या 12 करोड़ 55 लाख से अधिक हो गई है, जो अब तक का एक नया रिकॉर्ड मानी जा रही है।
इस अभियान के दौरान नए मतदाताओं के नाम जोड़े गए, मृत एवं स्थानांतरित मतदाताओं के नाम हटाए गए तथा त्रुटियों में सुधार किया गया। खासतौर पर युवाओं, महिलाओं और शहरी क्षेत्रों में रहने वाले मतदाताओं की भागीदारी में बढ़ोतरी देखने को मिली है। आयोग का कहना है कि इस प्रक्रिया से मतदाता सूची अधिक पारदर्शी, शुद्ध और विश्वसनीय बनी है।
चुनाव आयोग के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि SIR का उद्देश्य हर पात्र नागरिक को मताधिकार से जोड़ना और निष्पक्ष चुनाव सुनिश्चित करना है। प्रशासन ने आम जनता से अपील की है कि वे अपनी मतदाता जानकारी की जांच कर किसी भी त्रुटि कीस्थिति में समय रहते सुधार कराएं।
