ગુજરાત વિધાનસભા કોંગ્રેસ પક્ષના ઉપનેતાશ્રી શૈલેષ પરમારે જણાવ્યું હતું કે, સમજાવવાનો કે પાછા પાડવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરતા હોય તેવા લોકોએ સમજવાની જરૂર છે કે આ સરદાર સાહેબના પથ ઉપર તેમના વિચારોથી એમના સિધ્ધાંતોને લઈને ચાલવા વાળો કોંગ્રેસનો કાર્યકર છે જે સંઘર્ષ કરીને દેશની એકતા અખંડિતતા માટે કામ કરતો રહેશે. ખુબ અફવાઓ અને ખોટો પ્રચાર કરવામાં આવ્યો. કોંગ્રેસની ગુજરાતની વાત કરીએ કે ગુજરાતની જેટલી જાહેર સંસ્થાઓ છે જેટલા જાહેર કાર્યો છે એ મોટા ભાગની જાહેર સંસ્થાઓ અને કાર્યો સાથે સરદાર સાહેબનું નામ જોડવાનું કામ એક માત્ર કોંગ્રેસ પક્ષે કર્યું છે. સરદાર સરોવર ડેમ હોય, અમદાવાદનું સરદાર પટેલ ઈન્ટરનેશનલ એરપોર્ટ હોય કે આપણુ વિધાનસભાનું સચિવાલય, કે પાલડીનું બ્રીજ હોય, અમદાવાદનુ પહેલુ કોર્પોરેશન ભવન, સ્પીપા હોય કે એવા અનેક કાર્યો આપણે ગણાવી શકીએ કે જે કોંગ્રેસના શાસનકાળમાં ખુબ ઉપયોગી કાર્યો-સંસ્થાઓ બની અને તમામે તમામ કાર્યોને સરદાર સાહેબના નામ સાથે જોડી તેમનું જે વિરાટ નેતૃત્વ હતુ તેને અમર બનાવવાનું કામ પણ કોંગ્રેસ પક્ષે કર્યું છે. કોંગ્રેસ પાર્ટી અને સરદાર સાહેબ એ બન્ને એક પરીવારનો ભાગ છે. એટલે એને કોઈ અલગ કરી ના શકે અને કોઈ ગમે તેટલો પ્રયત્ન કરે ભાજપના નેતાઓ ગમે તેટલા ભાષણો કરે કે ગમે તેટલુ પોતાની જાતને સરદાર સાહેબની સરખામણી કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરે પણ સરદાર સાહેબની ક્યારેય સરખામણી હોય જ નહી. સરદાર સાહેબને કોંગ્રેસમાંથી ક્યારેય અલગ પાડી પણ નહી શકે, એ સંદેશ આપણે આજના દિવસે આ ગુજરાતના જન જન સુધી પહોંચાડવાનો છે.
