વડોદરા મહાનગરપાલિકાના તંત્રની ગંભીર બેદરકારી અને લાપરવાહીના લીધે શહેરની વિશ્વામિત્રી નદીમાં વિનાશક પૂર આવ્યું તથા પૂર ને લીધે ભારેખમ પારાવાર નુકશાન થયેલ છે. જેના લીધે વડોદરા વાસીઓ તબાહ થઈ ગયા છે. આ પૂરને લીધે લાખો-કરોડો રૂપિયાનું નુકશાન થયેલ છે. સરકાર સર્જીત પુર છે આ એક વખત નહી પણ બે વખત પુર આવ્યું જેના લીધે સમગ્ર વડોદરા શહેરમાં ભારે તારાજી થઈ.
પૂરતી ચેતવણીઓ અને આગાહીઓ હોવા છતાં, વહીવટીતંત્રની નિષ્ક્રિયતા અને તૈયારી ન હોવાથી આ દુર્ઘટના સર્જાઈ છે. જળાશયો સમયસર ખાલી કરવામાં આવ્યા ન હતા, અને ડ્રેનેજ સિસ્ટમ ખરાબ રીતે નિષ્ફળ ગઈ હતી, જેના પરિણામે અભૂતપૂર્વ પૂર આવ્યું હતું. આ વહીવટી નિષ્ફળતા અને બેદરકારીનો સ્પષ્ટ કિસ્સો છે.
વડોદરાની જનતાને થયેલ ભારે નુકસાનની ભરપાઈ યોગ્ય રીતે થાય તેવી માંગ સાથે કોંગ્રેસ પક્ષ દ્વારા જનઆક્રોશ રેલીને સયાજીનગર ગૃહશ્રી કલેક્ટર કચેરી સુધી પદયાત્રા સ્વરૂપે બપોરે 2-00 કલાકે યોજાશે.
‘જનઆક્રોશ રેલી’” માં અખિલ ભારતીય કોંગ્રેસ સમિતિના વરિષ્ઠ મહામંત્રી અને સાંસદ, ગુજરાત કોંગ્રેસ સંગઠન પ્રભારીશ્રી મુકુલ વાસનીકજી, ગુજરાત પ્રદેશ કોંગ્રેસ સમિતિના પ્રમુખ અને સાંસદશ્રી શક્તિસિંહ ગોહિલ, ગુજરાત વિધાનસભા કોંગ્રેસ પક્ષના નેતાશ્રી અમિત ચાવડા, ઉપનેતાશ્રી શૈલેષ પરમાર, એ.આઈ.સી.સી. મંત્રીશ્રી રામકિશન ઓઝા અને શ્રી ઉષા નાયડુજી સહિત પ્રદેશના વરિષ્ઠ આગેવાનો ઉપસ્થિત રહેશે. આક્રોશ રેલીમાં મોટી સંખ્યામાં સ્થાનિક નાગરિકો અને કોંગ્રેસ પક્ષના આગેવાનો જોડાશે અને અસરગ્રસ્ત વડોદરા વાસીઓને ન્યાય મળે તેવી માંગ કરશે.

તા. 14મી સપ્ટેમ્બરના રોજ ઉત્તર ગુજરાતની મહેસાણા ખાતેની બેઠકમાં મહેસાણા, પાટણ, અરવલ્લી, સાબરકાંઠા, બનાસકાંઠા જિલ્લાના ચુનંદા આગેવાનો અને પદાધિકારીઓ ઉપસ્થિત રહેશે.
