An online memorial service titled “In Memory of the Revered Kalyan Kothari” was organized under the aegis of Communication Today, bringing together senior journalists, media educators, public relations professionals, social activists, litterateurs, friends, and admirers from across the country to pay heartfelt tributes to the late Kalyan Kothari.
During the memorial gathering, speakers fondly remembered Kalyan Kothari Ji’s immense contribution to journalism, development communication, public relations, and social dialogue spanning more than four decades. They described him as a principled, disciplined, and socially committed individual who dedicated his life to meaningful communication and public welfare.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Sanjeev Bhanawat, who stated that Kalyan Kothari Ji was not only a senior journalist and public relations expert but also a vigilant advocate of human sensitivity, social concerns, and ideological commitment. He noted that Kothari Ji possessed a warm, communicative, and energetic personality and consistently worked to strengthen dialogue between society and the media.
Senior journalists and litterateurs including Rajiv Tikku from Delhi, Rajendra Boda, Dr. Durgaprasad Agarwal, and Ashok Chaturvedi from Jaipur, along with Prof. Ramesh Kumar Rawat, recalled his remarkable contribution toward public awareness and social causes. They emphasized that Kothari Ji always regarded journalism as a powerful instrument for social transformation.
Suchorita Bardhan from West Bengal highlighted his organizational skills, efficiency, and imaginative role in every event and initiative he undertook.
Distinguished media educators including Prof. Mrinal Chatterjee from Bhubaneswar, Prof. Harish Kumar, Prof. Nisha Pawar from Kolhapur, Prof. Tanu Dang from Delhi, Dr. Richa Yadav from Jaipur, Prof. Usha Sahni, and Dr. Prithvi Sengar from Meerut shared emotional reminiscences and described Kalyan Kothari Ji as a forthright, disciplined, and value-based personality committed to academic excellence and nurturing young talent.
Veteran Jaipur photographer Mahesh Swami remembered him as a close friend and a deeply sensitive human being, while Guru Mukh Singh Bawa spoke about his immense contribution to public relations and social communication.
In their messages, Dr. Dev Swarup, Prof. Ashok Ogra of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, and Narendra Mehta from Varanasi remarked that Kalyan Kothari Ji viewed journalism and public relations not merely as professions but as mediums for promoting social awareness, public participation, and human values.
Dr. Priyanka Kataria and young journalist Bharti Pareek remembered him as a guiding force and inspiration for emerging talent in the media industry.
During the tribute ceremony, emotional messages sent by family members, colleagues, and friends were also read out, recalling his warmth, humanitarian outlook, social commitment, and amiable personality. Speakers unanimously expressed that the memories and ideals of Kalyan Kothari Ji would continue to inspire future generations.
Concluding the event, Kalyan Kothari Ji’s son Puneet Kothari expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and stated that the affection, respect, and fond memories shared during the program provided emotional strength and support to the family.
